Step by step
Where the file goes
This is one of the tools that cannot run in your browser, so it is worth being precise about what happens.
1. The file is sent
PDF to Word needs a conversion service, so the document leaves your device. That is different from the page tools, which never upload anything.
2. The structure is rebuilt
Text runs are grouped into paragraphs, headings are identified by size and weight, and table cells are reconstructed from the grid the original implied.
3. You get a document back
It opens in Word, Pages, LibreOffice or Google Docs. Everything in it is editable, including the parts the reconstruction got wrong.
4. The result is deleted
A server-side result is held for sixty minutes and then removed. Download it in that window, or run the conversion again.
Where the line sits
- Runs the page tools entirely in your browser: those files are never uploaded
Nine of the tools stay inside your browser. These three do not, because rebuilding a document is not something a page can do on its own.
